The Last Boss Witch Will Keep Her Past Self’s Crush Until Her Dying Day – Chapter 35

It’s been 3 days since Banheid has been freed from the curse.
Will and I have been taken care of at Brother’s mansion in Azlow.
The doctors and sorcerers stayed in the village to take care of any remaining issues, but there was nothing else we could do.

“I reported to His Majesty the King that you and Will solved this incident and he was pleased with your work. I would also like to express my gratitude again. Thank you.”

I just smiled vaguely.
I couldn’t tell Brother everything that actually happened either, so I could only give him a report layered with lies. Sorry.
Will and I found the witch, Zeoli, who was hiding in the village and defeated her. She was a part of the group that was causing the mystery incidents and was planning to take over Mistria. That’s all.

I hid both the deal regarding the Rose Gem and the fact that I put my body on line to defeat Zeoli. I didn’t tell him anything that would be inconvenient for me, but Brother didn’t ask too deeply either. I think he just let me get away with it.

After that day, the symptoms of the curse suddenly disappeared from the villages of the Mariala territory. Looks like the witch Zeoli was the sole perpetrator of the curse incident this time.
My thoughts were only affirmed after we retrieved Zeoli’s corpse.

Even though most of Zeoli’s body turned into ashes, the arm that Will cut off stayed as it was. It was a part of her body that had received the backlash from the curse, so any experienced person could look at it and see just how much of an advanced technique she had used.
Both I and the sorcerer sent by the Kingdom concluded that there weren’t many witches who could “use such an extensive and elaborate magic”. Wide-ranged curse terrorism wouldn’t happen, no, couldn’t happen, for a while.

Next time we’ll already know how to deal with it anyway. If we can find the person who’s helping with the curse and kill them, we can stop the damage for the time being. Knowing the King, he’ll definitely mercilessly allow the sacrifice the moment anything goes wrong.
Although we can’t fully let out guards down, we can still relax for a while.

All is known to the public is that “a new pandemic was spreading across the country, but was quickly subdued with the help of a special medicine”. The involvement of the evil Witch in all this was hidden from people to avoid creating unnecessary anxiety in the citizens.
Brother has promised me to do everything in his powers to protect us, ordinary witches, from the hate created by the criminal witches. I’m quite sick of Witch Hunts, after all. This was good news for me.

There’s another good news too.
Raz survived.
After getting the permission to see him, Will and I headed for the guest room.

“Do you feel unwell anywhere?”

Raz nodded in response to Will’s words. The bandages wound around his head looked heavy. Tirle, laying on the bed, looked at us and wagged his tail. He looked with eyes full of affection at Will in particular. It’s frustrating but he’s cute.
We were able to bring Raz from Banheid to Azlow under the pretext of healing. It would be inconvenient to seek truth from him about his connection to Zeoli and the curse.

“Raz, I’ll ask once again. You really don’t remember anything, right?”

Raz only nodded at my question too.
His memories of the recent few weeks had become fuzzy. Was it because of the curse, because he was hit on the head by the drunkard in the head or because he had been on the verge of death? It seemed to have been too much burden for his small body. It doesn’t look like we’ll be able to get information on Zeoli.

“You know who we are, right?”

“I think… we ate together once… in the hut.”

I smiled kindly at Raz, who seemed apologetic.

“You don’t have to force yourself to remember. After all, you have many painful memories. But, if you start to remember anything-“

“I won’t say anything.”

Raz looked straight at me and replied.

“If it’s something that will trouble you by me remembering it, then I won’t say anything. I don’t remember it well, but I feel like you guys saved me.”

“… You’re a good boy, Raz. And you’re very clever.”

When I pat his head, Raz curled himself up in embarrassment. He seemed to be bashful, but still happy. The light of revenge had completely disappeared from his eyes. This must be what they mean by being freed from demons.

I’m really glad that Raz doesn’t remember what I looked like.
Back then, I saw Raz fall from the big camphor tree from the edge of my sight and collapse on the ground. I was pretty sure that he was unconscious, but in the unlikely event that he saw me… I would have to think about silencing him. I don’t think I’d try killing him in front of Will, but I might have imprisoned him in Cucurouge.
He really doesn’t seem to remember anything and he doesn’t look like a blabbermouth fool, so I’ll wait and observe him for a while.

“I’ve made a request to the Lord about Raz. You don’t have to return to the village anymore. Take your time to heal your injuries here and live with Tirle.”

“… Even though I did something bad?”

Raz glanced at his shoulder. There were faint black bruises there. I thought that all of them had disappeared, but some seemed to still have remained. According to the sorcerer, ‘a few might remain on his body as a proof that he tried to curse somebody to death’.
Raz seems to also vaguely remember the incident that happened in the early morning of that day in that hut.

Raz not only tormented many villagers, he also cursed one to death.
Given the background and the circumstances of the case, there’s a chance for extenuating circumstances to be taken in consideration as self-defense. But it’s a fact that he killed people with evil methods. A punishment is necessary.”

“The lord wants you to do good deeds to compensate for your bad deeds. Work hard and repay the favor. And the lord also said that he would make amends for you too. He’s sorry for making you suffer alone.”

I hate to say it but the oppression of orphans isn’t uncommon. However, the current lord of the Azurite territory regretted being unaware of Banhaid’s darkness and said that he would take responsibility for Raz. As expected, he wasn’t the kind of a person who would make a small child shoulder the responsibility of this case.

It was decided that Raz would be taken in by the family of servants who have been serving Aspinel family for generations. He’s going to recuperate in the mansion and help out with the work and study while being under observation.

Well, even if you put the whole making amends thing aside, it’s natural to protect Raz.
Because he might remember the enemy organization and because he might get targeted to be silenced, it’s better to have him where we can see him. Brother and I are thinking about that too.

Raz himself was innocently happy, saying that he’d do his best at anything as long as he was together with Tirle. He won’t have to worry about food, clothing and shelter here. I hope that from now on, he can leave peacefully, without being caught up in hatred or getting involved with evil witches.

“I’ll come to see you from time to time.”

Raz nodded deeply at Will’s words and Tirle let out a squeak.

We returned to Cucurouge that afternoon.
So many things happened, I’m tired. I want to rest as soon as possible. I told Phantom, who welcomed me enthusiastically, to save the report for tomorrow and returned home with Will.
Will prepared tea without saying anything and let me relax on the sofa in the living room. I want to fall asleep just like this, but I can’t do that, can I?

“Can I get an explanation now?”

“Yes, that’s what I intended to do.”

I nodded at his hard voice and indicated Will to sit on the sofa across me.
I hadn’t yet told any details to Will ever since the night I fought with Zeoli. I didn’t know who could be eavesdropping at the village and Brother’s mansion, so Will agreed that we could talk later, as long as I was in a good physical condition. Then, we agreed on a story so our reports to Brother wouldn’t be contradictory.

I told Will how I came to face Zeoli.

That I lured Zeoli by using Rose Gem as a bait, that I was told to offer my body to her ‘master’ and that everything ended in a fight when I declined.
That I was cursed by Raz and couldn’t afford to construct magic quickly.

“In order to defeat Zeoli in that state, I had to carefully construct magic. That’s why I decided to act dead and make her let her guard down. I thought that once Zeoli decided I didn’t possess rose gem, she’d definitely let her guard down.”

I endured the wound so that it wouldn’t regenerate on its own. I was one step away from dying though. I was really thankful that Will came. Thanks to that, I was able to take my time to construct offensive magic while Will and Zeoli were fighting and I could regenerate my body all at once.

When I thanked him again, Will frowned. It was as if he was exasperated that I had pushed myself too much.

“So… what in the world was that power?”

I sighed a little.
To be honest, I don’t want to tell him the truth. It’s really annoying to talk about my painful past with my own mouth.
But since it doesn’t look like I can escape it, I reluctantly opened my mouth.

“The remains of what once was the Rose Gem, the power of the rose elixir. It’s the result of mother’s research. I was able to adapt to it after drinking it, but mother, on the other hand…”

I revealed my past to Will.
However, I kept the fact that I saw ‘anime’ in my previous life as a secret. There was no telling him about it. It’s hard to say that if things go according to the original story, ‘Will is going to be killed by Sonia while protecting Emerald’.

“Mother was poisoned and disfigured, and planned to take over my body with the spell of reincarnation, one of ‘ 7 Great Taboos’ that she’d been secretly researching. I didn’t want to die, so I turned the tables on her. I finished her off.”

“So you killed her…”

He looks as if he already had an inkling about it. I wonder if this is what Coral and the others expected. I expected him to be more surprised.

I could have told him that Mother died from poison, but… I would be ashamed to hide my own sins after telling Raz to atone for his.
“There’s still the effects of Rose elixir left in my body, but it’ll eventually disappear and I’ll have a normal body. Even so, if other people find out about this, I’ll be targeted. Don’t tell anyone, okay?”

Now, what kind of reaction will he have?
It’s fine if he just nods.
Will he get mad that I kept this from him?
Or will he regret hearing about something annoying?
… It wouldn’t be surprising if he was creeped out. My body contains a large amount of life that have been sacrificed to create rose elixir.

Will, who had been silent for a while, hesitantly opened his mouth.

“Will you really regain a normal body after time passes? There really won’t be any leftover defects…?”

I blinked back unintentionally. Will was too seriously concerned for my well-being.

“… It’ll be fine, probably.”

“Probably isn’t good enough.”

“I can’t say for sure whether I’ll be fine or not after the drug wears off. After all, there are no other cases.  However, even though my regenerative ability is declining year by year, it’s not a burden on my body, my mind is also stable and there are no other ill omens either.”

Will nodded with a sour face and let out a deep sigh.

“I’m even more determined now that I’ve heard your story.”

“Hm?”

As I thought that he stood up abruptly, Will knelt down near me. And, terribly embarrassed, but still firmly meeting my eyes, he said in a raised voice.

“I will… dedicate my lifelong loyalty to Sonia Carnelian. I swear that I will stay by your side for as long as you desire.”

For a moment I couldn’t understand what I was told. I keep being surprised by today’s Will.
“In other words, you won’t leave Cucurouge and will remain by my side? What kind of change of heart is that?”

When I went looking for the ingredients of the Mana Fever medicine, I told Will to make a choice.
To stay here or to leave.
Will seemed to have been intending to leave Cucurouge eventually. It didn’t seem like he wanted to leave as much as he just couldn’t accept being happy by my side.
Probably because I’m the daughter of the enemy of Will’s parents, the ex-fiancée of his previous master and the enemy of his beloved Emerald.

Will’s conflicted state was also adorable, so I didn’t intend to rush him. After all, I knew that he was attracted to the idea of building a new house and living happily together. I thought that even if I didn’t unsightly try to hold him back, I’d definitely be able to capture him with time.
However, it seems that Will made a decision as soon as we returned from Banhaid.

“Are you perhaps feeling sorry for me?”

I had a pretty hard life, I’m likely to face more troubles from now on too and I also have an abnormal body.
If he wants to stay by my side out of pity for me, it’s not something I want so I’d rather decline.
Will shook his head.

“It’s different from compassion. I wanted to repay you for taking care of me when I fell ill the village and I wished to live because of that. That’s not all. Even though, I was planning to throw everything away once because I wanted to die…”

After making his gaze swim for a bit to search for words, Will said clearly.

“I no longer wanted to let go of happiness. I wanted to stay by your side, for my own sake, Sonia.”

It was a near perfect answer for me.
Will, who kept enduring and sacrificing himself for the sake of somebody else’s happiness…
As I was secretly trembling with emotion, Will said something that sounded like an excuse.

“Maybe it’s because people around you are unreliable, but you always try to solve everything yourself. I realized that during this case. Please don’t get hurt at a place without me. I want you to refrain from doing something unreasonable, even if you have a chance to win. I thought I was going to die of despair.”

“That’s my line. Can you not get yourself cursed? I was so angry, I thought I’d die in a fit of anger. You hurt my property.”

I’m deducting points. When I swiftly cut him off, Will groaned.

“A-anyway, I will remain by your side, Sonia. That’s fine, right?”

“Fufu, that’s right. You’ll happy as long as you stay with me, won’t you, Will? You don’t care about appearances anymore?”

“… Yeah. From now on, I’ll will put myself and you first.”

As Will nodded with a serious face, I urged him to sit down next to me.
When I hugged his arm as if draping myself over him, he stiffened and gasped. I don’t have to worry if this counts as sexual harassment anymore, right? Will seems to be getting hotter and his heart is beating faster, but he’s not showing any signs of resistance.

“You finally became mine in the truest sense of the world… I’m happy. I will treasure you, Will.”

“… Can I confirm something?”

“Go ahead.”

Will asked me very quietly while blushing. I can tell that he’s mustering up all courage he has.

“What’s my place in your life from now on? Am I going to be your servant? Or will I… be your lover?”

Hmm. That’s very Will-like. Looks like he won’t be comfortable with an ambiguous relationship unless it’s made clear. He should just go with the mood. Depending on the woman, it might be a deal-breaker.
I was in great spirits so I decided to answer honestly.

“If you’re fine with it, then both. They’re the same thing anyway.”

“Huh? They’re not same no matter how you think about it.”
“Is that so? In my mind, a master-servant relationship and romantic relationship can go hand in hand.”

When I glanced up to check on his expression, Will immediately averted his eyes and let out a sigh.

“That’s impossible according to my ethics though…”

“It would be bad if we were siblings or a guard and prisoner, but we should be fine. We weren’t even in a formal master-servant relationship to start with, were we?. The fact that you still don’t use polite speech with me is the biggest proof of that.”

He started to respect me recently, but Will doesn’t thoroughly act like a retainer. Even if he tried to change himself now, it’ll just feel weird.

“If you hate it, we can keep it this way, Will. Just be my servant. I won’t force you to do anything sexual.”

I won’t dissolve just the master-servant relationship.
The only choice given to Will is to remain a servant or to become a servant and lover.

When I quickly pulled away from his arm, Will looked both relieved and disappointed. How cute.

“… Give me some time to prepare myself.”

If you’re not asking for time to think about it, don’t you already have an answer?
I gave him the extension of time with a generous smile.

TL/N:
Not gonna lie, while I don’t mind femdom (rather, I’m pretty in favor of it), I find Sonia’s insistence on keeping Will subservient while also making him into her lover kind of weird. It gives me “Honey, it’s 4 a.m., time for your dick flattening” vibes.
In other words, Will is 100% getting pegged at some point in the future.

Since it’s been more than a year since the last chapter, I remember jack shit from the story and I might’ve translated some names differently so do notify me if you find inconsistent terms/names, typos, mistranslation and weird grammar.

I can’t promise that I’ll have a consistent schedule but I’ll try for a release once a month for now. Cheers.

  1. Hooray! You’re back again!

While Sonia didn’t really feel there’d be much of a difference between him being her lover and him being her lover _and_ servant, it’s still nice to see that she just leaves the ball in his court to decide. He’s the one getting his pants in a twist over it after all, not her.
